Hello! My name is Gennadiy Sapegin, and I am a professional guitar teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience.
For me, learning to play the guitar is much more than mastering chords, scales, or techniques. Music is a powerful language that allows us to express what words sometimes cannot — joy, gratitude, faith, emotion, and worship.
Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with students of different ages, backgrounds, and skill levels — from those holding a guitar for the very first time to experienced musicians looking to refine their technique and expand their musical abilities.
Many of my students have gone on to perform publicly and actively participate in church music ministries and worship teams. One of the greatest rewards of teaching for me is seeing a student grow from their first uncertain notes into a confident musician who can use their abilities with joy and purpose.
Experience: Over 20 years
Specialization: Classical, acoustic & electric guitar
I have a higher degree in music, which provided me with a strong foundation in both instrumental performance and music education.
My professional background combines academic musical training with many years of practical teaching experience. This allows me to explain musical concepts clearly while keeping lessons focused on real playing rather than theory alone.
Over the years, I have developed my own practical and time-tested teaching approach, adapting traditional guitar education to the individual abilities, musical interests, and goals of each student.
My experience includes working with:
Beginning guitar students
Intermediate and advanced musicians
Children and adults
Classical and contemporary guitar repertoire
Christian worship and praise music
Students preparing to play in church or worship teams
My goal is not simply to give students information, but to help them develop skills that they can confidently use in real musical situations.
I believe that every student learns differently. That is why my lessons are never built around a rigid, one-size-fits-all program.
Instead, I create an individual learning path based on the student’s current level, musical interests, abilities, and personal goals.
Students begin working with real music as early as possible. Technical exercises and theory are introduced in connection with actual songs so that students understand why they are learning each new skill.
Whenever possible, we work with music that genuinely inspires the student. This may include classical guitar pieces, contemporary songs, instrumental music, or Christian worship and praise repertoire.
Enjoying the music you play is one of the strongest motivations to continue learning.
Good technique gives a musician freedom.
I pay careful attention to hand position, coordination, rhythm, chord transitions, picking technique, sound quality, and other fundamental skills so that students develop good habits from the beginning.
My goal is to help students understand what they are playing.
Alongside practical guitar skills, students gradually develop their sense of rhythm, musical hearing, understanding of chords and harmony, and ability to recognize musical patterns.
This makes it much easier to learn new songs independently in the future.
Progress in music requires patience and consistency, but learning should also bring joy.
I believe that the right encouragement can unlock abilities that students themselves may not yet realize they have. I always try to create a supportive atmosphere where mistakes are viewed as part of the learning process rather than something to fear.
Developing correct technique, musical expression, coordination, note reading, and a strong instrumental foundation through classical repertoire.
Chords, accompaniment patterns, strumming, fingerstyle elements, rhythm, and practical techniques for playing songs confidently.
Technique, articulation, rhythm and lead playing, musical expression, and skills required for contemporary styles.
A special part of my teaching is working with Christian worship repertoire.
Students can learn worship and praise songs with chords, accompaniment patterns, and detailed explanations of the musical and technical elements involved.
The goal is not simply to memorize individual songs, but to develop the skills needed to accompany worship music confidently and naturally.
For students who want to serve through music, lessons can focus on the practical skills needed for playing in a church setting.
We work on rhythm, listening to other musicians, maintaining the song structure, appropriate accompaniment, dynamics, and understanding the guitarist’s role within a worship team.
As students progress, we explore how to move beyond simply playing the correct notes.
We work on dynamics, phrasing, musical interpretation, ear training, and basic improvisational skills so that playing becomes expressive and personal.
I believe that musical ability grows when good instruction, regular practice, encouragement, and genuine inspirationcome together.
You do not need to be naturally gifted or already have musical experience to begin learning guitar. What matters most is the willingness to take the first step and continue moving forward.
My role as a teacher is to guide you through that process — helping you overcome difficulties, recognize your progress, and gradually become a confident and independent musician.
Whether your dream is to play your favorite songs at home, develop serious guitar skills, accompany Christian music, or serve as part of a church worship team, we can build a learning path that leads toward that goal.
The guitar can become more than an instrument you learn to play — it can become a way to express your faith, share music with others, and use your abilities with purpose.
I will be glad to help you begin that journey.
